In fall 2018, I began my career as a Disc Jockey. I believe music to be one of the strongest forms of communication. Music can trigger emotions, create/rekindle memories, and connect people. As a Dj, I want to give the world the opportunity to experience and feel what music has done for me. My upbringing provided me with an appreciation of a diverse range of music. I was born into a family of jazz enthusiasts in Detroit, Michigan. And, when my brother introduced me to hip-hop, my appreciation for music broadened even further. In time, discovering new artists and music became a precious hobby of mine. But, it wasn’t until my sophomore year at Morehouse College, that I turned my hobby into a vocation. Since then, my love for the art of music has grown. I love being able to present music that resonates with others, exposing them to more than what they hear on the radio. I have been blessed with the continued support of those around me. During the months of Covid, I took a hiatus due to limited social interaction. Once conditions become safer, I plan to continue bringing people together through music.
In my Freshman year of high school, I discovered my love for film. Detroit Country Day School had a new film program. Looking for an outlet to express myself creatively, I joined the program and quickly fell in love with this art form. In my first year, I had many opportunities to shoot, film, and edit my own projects. In the years to come, film took a large presence in my academic curriculum. I began taking independent study courses, and even film literature courses. By the end of high school, I received Conservancy in Art designation in recognition of my work in film. I also submitted films in competition and won multiple awards from the Detroit Institute of Arts as a Cinematographer and Assistant Director. During my senior year of high school, I had the opportunity to attend the New York Film Academy where I greatly developed my knowledge and skills. Most recently, I designed and managed the construction of a state of the art, digital film studio for Global Automotive Alliance, a large automotive conglomerate based in Detroit Michigan.
